Blepharoplasty is minor surgery that isless traumatic than a face lift, but often results in a more youthful appearance.
- Upper lid blepharoplasty: is recommended if the upper lid skin has stretched, wrinkled, or sagged below the eyelashes causingimpeded vision. The upper eyelid incision is made in the natural skin fold. Excess skin and fatty tissue is removed. The thin, white scar is barely noticeable after 2 - 3 weeks.
- Lower lid blehpharoplasty: is usually carried out because of wrinkles and bags under the eyes. Incisions are made just under the lower eyelash and similarly to the upper lid operation scarring is barely noticeable. Upper and lower blepharoplasty can be carried out simultaneously as well and in conjunction with laser skin resurfacing.
Advantages: Young, attractive appearance. In certain cases improved vision. Removal of bags from under the eyes. Relatively minor surgery compared to results.
